Frequently Asked Questions

We require all policyholders maintain a primary Comprehensive Full-Coverage car insurance policy to ensure the covered vehicle will be repaired so we can determine the precise loss of value. This will ultimately allow us to settle claims faster and accurately.

Note: Failure to maintain this insurance will result in NCG policy termination.

Yes!  It is a mandatory requirement that law enforcement be called to the scene of any accident involving an NCG covered vehicle. Under certain circumstances we may also require a policyholder to submit a copy of the police report in order to settle a claim.

Note: Failure to call law enforcement to an accident scene will result in denial of claim.

Yes.  Policyholders have a 21-day (calendar days) grace period to report an accident to NCG.  If a policyholder is unable to file accident report due to medical injuries or extended hospital stay supporting documents may be required to settle a claim.  Please see Accident Reporting procedures for more information.

Typically it takes approximately 30 days after vehicle repairs are completed to receive settlement payout.

Yes, depending on the year, make and model of your vehicle we will accept vehicles with values less than ¥5M on a case-by-case basis.

We strive to issue coverage to all individuals with vehicles that meet our enrollment requirements.  However, there are certain situations that won’t allow us to and they include (but are not limited to):

  • Vehicle does not pass inspection
  • Applicant is associated with Anti-Social forces
  • Applicant has unacceptable criminal history
  • Applicant does not have valid drivers license or unacceptable driving history
  • Applicant does not have valid or adequate insurance coverage
  • Applicant cannot prove ownership of vehicle
  • Vehicle registration (shaken) is invalid/outdated
  • Applicant is a known high-risk individual
  • Applicant failed to complete enrollment procedures

All “Claim Denial” letters are mailed to the policyholders home address and an accompanying email is sent to their email address giving a detailed explanation.  Typical claim denials are due to (but not limited to) one of the following reasons;

  1. Accident was due to illegal activity:
    • Driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol
    • Excessive speeding (excess of 50kph over posted speed limit)
    • Reckless driving that violates Japanese Traffic Laws
    • Driver didn’t have a valid drivers license
    • Driver illegally left the scene of an accident
  2. Car was damaged due to track or circuit use.
  3. Policyholder did not call Police to the scene of the accident.
  4. Policyholder filed accident report after the 21 day grace period.
  5. Damage to the covered vehicle didn’t result in a loss of value.
  6. Primary insurer refuses to settle or denies claim.
  7. Failed to complete the enrollment procedures.

The typical time it takes to enroll a Used/Pre-owned Vehicle can range from 1- 4 days, depending on how soon you respond to our correspondents and complete a vehicle inspection.  The typical time it takes to enroll a New Vehicle is 10 – 15 mins.

Currently, we accept Visa, Mastercard, JCB, Discover, Diners Club and American Express credit cards and Bank Transfers (Furikomi).

If your car is involved in an accident and deemed a total loss (written-off) by the primary insurer your options are:

  1. Your policy is placed “on hold” as of the write-off date and you will be allowed a 12-month grace period to replace your vehicle and transfer your policy to another vehicle, or
  2. You can request a refund for the remaining unused portion of your premium, if you paid in advance.

You can transfer your policy to another car during the coverage period.  The only requirement is you need to pay for another inspection.  Depending on the value of the car your policy premiums may decrease or increase.  If there is a decrease you may be subject to a refund.  If there is an increase you will need to make an additional payment.

Contact customer support at 03-6770-2902 or log-in to your Loss Pay account to make changes and update your policy information.

We have no specific high price limit for vehicles to be enrolled in our program.  Coverage isn’t solely based on vehicle value.  Furthermore, we have a maximum payout of ¥10 million regardless of the vehicles market value.

We only accept certain vehicle year, make and model types into the Accelerated Total Loss (Vehicle Replacement) Program.  Acceptance is based on several factors including current market demand, popularity and rarity of parts.

There are no additional fees associated with your premium.  Policy premiums include all applicable taxes and cost of vehicle inspection.  However, if you decide NOT to enroll in our program AFTER your car has been inspected by our Certified Vehicle Inspection services you will be charged a one-time ¥25,000 charge for the cost of the inspection.

At the end of a 12-month policy period or after an accident, a policyholder may renew their coverage by re-enrolling and having their vehicle reinspected.

Policies may be cancelled for several reasons which include, but are not limited to:

  • Illegal and/or reckless and high-risk behavior
  • Association with anti-social forces
  • Failure to make premium payments on time
  • Failure to maintain Comprehensive (Full-Coverage) car insurance
  • Filing fraudulent or excessive claims
